BENEFITS BEHIND EACH ACTIVITY

(and which side of the brain they benefit.)

Coloring -  Left & Right Brain: Stimulates creativity, improves fine motor skills, helps develop focus

Centers (LegoLand, PuzzleLand, Magnetic Tiles, Lincoln Logs)- Left & Right Brain: Improves hand/eye coordination, Develops spatial skills, Enhances fine motor and solving skills, Builds patience, Promotes teamwork , Improves focus and concentration , Boosts self-confidence. These activities stimulate your child’s problem solving and critical thinking skills which are crucial in aiding in their development with different crafts later in life, including music. They help our students with memory, ability to plan, solve problems, fine motor skills and pattern recognition which are very important skills that translate into music theory, instrument playing, etc. Children who develop these fine motor skills often find it easier to learn an instrument, and have fun while doing so! Develops memory skills, ability to plan, test ideas, and solve problems, and increases IQ.

Cooking Classes - Left & Right Brain: Increases language development, Enhances fine motor skills, Increase math ability, Improves reading skills, Increases focus and attention, Allows the camper to learn about different cultures

Music Fundamentals - Left & Right Brain: This class introduces campers to the theme for the day. With this class you learn about the famous composer. The camper then listens to a song from the composer and talks about the speed (tempo) of the song, the instruments that they were able to identify, and the emotion of the song and how it made them feel. The camper then starts to learn music theory for their age group.

Rhythm - Left & Right Brain: This class allows our campers to learn what rhythm is! This class involves movement, creating patterns, repetition of different patterns, and lots of fun! In this class we will explore rhythm on various types of percussion instruments and play rhythm games.

Group Music Class - Left & Right Brain: In this class, the campers will discover a new instrument. Learning music in a group environment helps boost confidence, offers creative expression, and helps exercise the brain.

Art - Right Brain: Art classes allow each camper the ability to express themselves. During this class, we will aid the campers as they create various things like: building music instruments, painting something that involves our theme of the day, creating Holiday cards, and so much more!

Individual Music Lesson - Left & Right Brain: Allowing our campers a space to have one on one lessons with a certified music teacher allows the camper to discover the instrument that they enjoy and allow for them to grow in that specific instrument. Depending on class size, this class is 15-30 mins long. This class will happen simultaneously with other classes.

Final Jam- Left & Right brain: At the end of every day, campers will get the chance to work with their teacher and campmates to prepare for our Campers Final Jam Session. This is music session for your child to showcase the music they have created and worked on throughout camp.
